Reblogged from David Gaughran:
Simon & Schuster has launched a self-publishing operation, Archway Publishing, contracting one of the most disreputable players in the business to run the show: Author Solutions.
We'll get to that distasteful link-up in a second, but first let's have a look at what Simon & Schuster are offering prospective customers (i.e. writers).
Fiction packages start at $1,999 and go up to $14,999.
Anyone who wants to get published MUST read this and please people! Be careful out there! Wonderful informative post!

Good article, It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to find these crooks, but now for a supposedly reputable company to partner up with one is ridiculous. You want editing, start looking close to home, maybe even an English Teacher who needs a little extra money to help the family would be a way to go.
Mostly the big companies like S and S don’t even care who they partner up with as long as they make money. I have a friend who will probably edit for me. If not then I live close by a University and maybe I can hire a college kid to do it for extra money. There are lots of options out there. But all writers if they want to publish need to do their homework! It’s a shame, but it is what it is.
Isn’t that the way life is, everyone out to make a buck so the rest of us need to be careful. good luck finding someone to do your editing.
